BLACK FACE I Want To Kill You/Monster

BLACK FACE I Want To Kill You/Monster
1st Press. 7″. Hydra Head Records.
White Vinyl

I know very little about this record, other than it is the first release from Black Face; a supergroup (if you like) featuring Chuck Dukowski (Black Flag) and Eugene S. Robinson (Oxbow), performing songs originally written for the My War era Black Flag.

Dukowski wrote some of Black Flag’s most celebrated songs and as I understand it, he has been sitting on a pile of stuff for years wondering what to do with it all. I believe we can expect further releases in the near future, and as I also understand it these will be 7″ only with no MP3 download. This kind of thing really excites me.

I can’t find pressing information, but what I do know is that I am pretty sure when I ordered I only had a choice of black. However, as you can see I got white vinyl instead. Discogs has two entries; black and mystery colour (blue) so I am presuming it falls under the latter. They even sent a sticker.

Buy it: http://www.bluecollardistro.com/hydrahead/product_info.php?products_id=6408&cPath=4_137&store=#.TwNnm4lYCc0

EDIT: Apparently there is 2000 on black, grey, white and mystery coloured vinyl

KYLESA / VICTIMS split

KYLESA / VICTIMS split
7″. Punk Distro.
Blue Marbled vinyl.

Picked this up when Kylesa supported Converge. They had another 7″ on sale but the merch guy reckoned this was better.

Although Kylesa’s contribution is very good, Victims side is just plain brilliant.

JANE’S ADDICTION ritual de lo habitual

JANE’S ADDICTION ritual de lo habitual
1st press. 12″. Warner.
Black vinyl. Censored cover art.

This is allegedly a Mexican version of the LP. I bought it from eBay about 8 years ago. The inner sleeve is in a shocking state, and the vinyl has seen better days.

This cover art was due to a number of retailers refusing to stock the album with it’s original artwork. I have this on CD too, as quite frankly – I prefer this cover. I believe there was only one pressing of the vinyl with this artwork, although you can still get the cd version in America.

There is an added statement about free speech on the back cover.

JANE’S ADDICTION nothings shocking

JANE’S ADDICTION nothings shocking
1st press. 12″. Warner UK.
Black vinyl. Limited Edition Corrugated Rubber sleeve.

I’ve heard two stories relating to the rubber outer cover.
1. It was a collectable edition of the first press.
2. It was added to appease retailers who weren’t keen on the art work.

Whichever it is, they seem an awful lot easier to come by these days than the entire time I was looking for one.

BRIDGE NINE sampler/tour ep

BRIDGE NINE sampler/tour ep
7″ featuring: THE DISTANCE, OUTBREAK, SOME KIND OF HATE
Turquoise Marbled vinyl.

I THINK this was sold on a tour the three bands all did together. I don’t have a lot of info about it, as it was sent to me by SKOH singer Matt Pike as a gift, but that’s how I understand it.

As with all Bridge Nine releases it would seem, it’s a good quality vinyl and sounds great.

SOME KIND OF HATE self-titled ep

SOME KIND OF HATE self-titled ep
7″. Bridge Nine.
Black vinyl. White label. #160/?

I don’t know how many of these there are, but I don’t think it’s loads. I was sent this by Matt Pike late last year after expressing my enjoyment of their full length.

The b-side inscription in pen is an obvious nod to The Smiths, and the run out etching reads (a) “EVERYTHING YOU TOUCH” (b) “TURNS TO SHIT”

BLACKLISTED peace on earth, war on stage

BLACKLISTED peace on earth, war on stage
7″. Deathwish w/ download coupon.
European Tour 2010 Edition.
Black vinyl /100

This features different cover art to the regular release, and was only available from their shows in Europe earlier this year.

BLACKLISTED eccentrichine

BLACKLISTED eccentrichine
7″. Six Feet Under (w/ Deathwish download coupon)
Red w/Gold Splatter vinyl /1000

I picked this up when Blacklisted supported Paint It Black in September. It’s the least rare of the colours on this release, although I think the nicest. You can still get this online.

WHITE SHIT / MEGAFUCKERS split

WHITE SHIT / MEGAFUCKERS split
12″. Limited Appeal.
White vinyl (w/ black smudge) 42/480

The first 100 of these bad boys are on coloured vinyl. Whether they all have a black smudge I cannot say, but either way it’s a good thick vinyl and the packaging is top notch. Nowhere on this record does it say White Shit or Megafuckers, and the only indication of a track listing is on the insert (although it neglects to say who has done what). Cover art is by Seth Putnum (of Anal Cunt fame).

This is available mail order from Limited Appeal.

NAILS unsilent death

NAILS unsilent death
12″ Gatefold. Southern Lord.
Black 180g vinyl.

Hands down my choice for album of the year. 13 minutes of anger. I’ve been keen to get this in vinyl for a while, and managed to score one at true recent London show supporting Rise & Fall.

Originally released on Six Feet Under, initial pressings sold out quickly. This is the second press/re-issue from Southern Lord. I believe the original was not a Gatefold or 180g.

The sleeve is some king of super strong cardboard, and oversized to fit the record snugly. I cant sing it’s praises enough. Everyone should own this.
